New offerings from Yahoo! Mail (and why it’s important to you)
In case you haven’t heard the latest news from Yahoo! Mail - if you weren’t able to get that special yahoo.com email address you had hoped for, now is your chance to try again. The only catch is that this time it will be an @ymail.com or @rocketmail.com email address (yup, for those of you who remember, we brought RocketMail back). You can read more about this news, and about the history of RocketMail by visiting the Yahoo! Mail blog.
One thing I wanted to point out to all of you Yahoo! Groups users is that if you do get one of these new @ymail.com or @rocketmail.com email address, you will be prompted to create a new public profile when joining or starting a new group. When creating your public profile, if the name you select as your “screen name” is already in use, you will be asked to choose a different name. Once you create your new profile, you will be taken back into the normal “join” or “start a group” flow.
A couple other things worth mentioning are:
- If you decide to register for one of these new email addresses, you cannot link it to an existing @yahoo.com account or easily import data from the existing account to the new account.
- If you decide to register for one of these new email addresses, you will also have to login to Groups with your full email address vs. just your ID as you do today. For example: xyz@ymail.com or xyz@rocketmail.com vs. just xyz, if I had an @yahoo.com email account.

I’m thinking of giving up everything Yahoo as it is, starting with moving my email

Realizing that today’s economy has a vast impact, you still have to spend it to
make it.

I’m about to give up on Yahoo, too. Everytime I try to do something it doesn;t work or take me off on some other subject I’m not intereted in!! Way to confusing.What happened to the daily digests. I have checked my profles and they are correct, but I never get the digests.

I’ve already given up, to be honest. I’ve switched to a competing service almost exclusively for e-mail. I keep a couple old yahoo “disposable” ones for the heck of it, the occasional anonimity, but I’ve started using the other services mail and groups. They still lack what YG has, but they look nicer and work easier. Yahoo has fallen firmly behind the times, and with Brad’s recent departure I have no faith at all that Yahoo will be able to be able to do anything but muck things up further. I hope I’m wrong, and I won’t be far away if they manage to start getting something right, but largely, my faith is gone, and so am I. Good luck Yahoo, you need it!

Yes, to begin, I had used Yahoo! for quite a while, and have not ever been dissatisfied. There is a complete variety of availability towards most all aspects of that there is out there on the internet. The vast expanse is compacted into a community usable from any location, which if away from home is very convinient. I recently wanted to join the WOW community (group) for World of Witchcraft (Wicca). Most of the commons that I enter with that title aren’t about that. I have a character entering the whole WOW scene at lvl 1. Its about to be a new specimen of the whole consortium of characters known to the selection. Its a Luke-War-Monger. This is going to set off a chain of others who haven’t quite been in tune with their elements. I guess it is the least peaceful of the civilizations. Which means , you’ll end up giving in to such menial attacks as that of a rat. (or in the case of being in a cave, a bat) But to be so plentifully picking fights, you’ll have to boost the HP and possibly other possible factors. Given this some thought, I had made my contrast to the public choice of giving in to popular demand. That is all. PS. It was supposed to go along with the theme of groups because I would like someone to manage my group sometime, if that’s possible.

I do NOT like the “new” inbox format. Y’all have it set so it works on 1024, but due to bad vision, I MUST use 800 - this means that the subjects are difficult to see while the date and size (neither of which I need) are fully visible while the IMPORTANT information I WANT to see is GONE.
It would be better if we had options of which sections we want to see OR make the sections scalable (as AOL does) I do not want to use AOL anymore as there is no way to enlarge the print. The Yahoo inbox USED to be very friendly to the visually impaired, but not any more.
I’ve tried the “new” inbox - same issues.
It would be VERY helpful if you would make your programs more user friendly for those with vision issues.
Please contact me via e-mail as it is also difficult to find comments in this forum as the background and text do not have enough contrast.

I am the founder and moderator of a Yahoo group for over 5 years, 950+ members. I have heard of the constraints to addressing the following issue over the years. The main rejoinder has been, ” we can’t do this anymore “. I would like you to re-visit this concern.

We used to have group chat ( with audio ) twice a week. The Chat Room easily got filled and overflowed into another Chat area. So, do what you got to do, even if that means re-developing the technology or making an investment or acquisition to BRING BACK THE GROUP CHAT, this time with video cam capability, and you, once again, will reign as King of the Mountain, instead of being at the bottom of the hill looking up.

I’m sure I won’t get an answer for this because of all the unneccessary JUNK that has been posted here but I’m going to try anyway…
I have an existing Yahoo group and I have made another Yahoo e-mail account which is a ymail account. When I try to join MY OWN group, it asks me to make a profile…FINE…BUT it won’t let me make one. It either says that I cannot use that ID with Yahoo Groups or I get a page that says file not found.
It will give me other ID options from time to time but when I choose any of the offered nic names, it just goes to the “Ooops…file not found” page.
Whats up?????????????????????????????????????
