A home maker’s confidence boosted up beyond the four walls of her home, a trainer found the clientele for his training sessions without any marketing or website, a whistler could gather all the performers of this rare art in the country, that is the power of Yahoo! Groups and its Moderators.
To celebrate this power and recognize these moderators, Yahoo! India hosted its third Moderators’ Union in Mumbai on June 7th at Sahara Star Hotel. This Moderators’ Union was very special because, in spite of heavy rains, there was a great turnout of enthusiastic attendees. Forty five moderators attended the event, coming from Delhi, Hyderabad, Madurai, Bhubaneswar, and Ahmadabad.
The event opened with a welcome message from Mr. I M Swaminathan, Director of Communication & Community Products, India. Following that were interesting introductions from each moderator and some fun quizzes. These moderators were from varied professional backgrounds, age groups and interests. They represented groups from finance, inspirational, professional, adventure, alumni, social cause, hobbies, just to name a few, and the common connection amongst such a variety of people was Yahoo! Groups. Next up was a Groups presentation, followed by product demos of Yahoo! India Local, Maps and a new Yahoo! India search experience. To wrap up, we presented awards for “Best Dressed Moderator”, “Best Introduction” and “Most Unique Group” based on nominations from attendees. There were two additional accolades for “Early Bird Guest” and “Guest who travelled longest distance”.

I have a problem with Yahoo groups. It is incredibly difficult to use Yahoo Groups unless you have a Yahoo e-mail account. I am trying to network a group of 50 people that met at a conference, so we can communicate and share files, and wanted to set up a public Yahoo account. But, turns out public accounts don’t allow people to join and get access to all the features, such as easily modify their e-mail flow settings or get access to files, unless you sign up for a Yahoo e-mail account. Realistically, no one is going to sign up with Yahoo just to get tis info, instead they won’t sign up for my group.
I like the user interface of Yahoo Groups, but in terms of easy access (and ease of signing people on to the group), Google has you guys beat. With google, people can keep their current e-mail addresses and use all the functions of the group. When will you guys chnge this, or do I need to switch to Google for all future networking groups?

Nicolas: You can keep your regular email address and still use all the features of Yahoo! Groups. You do need to have a Yahoo! account, and an email address comes with that account, but you don’t have to use that email address for the groups (or anything else).
All you have to do is add your add email address to your Yahoo! account. This Help page explains how:

If you know someone who has a yahoo account you can use their account to sign up for a group and specify an alternate e-mail address in the yahoo profile so that group digest will be sent to the specific e-mail you have indicated in their profile. One yahoo e-mail, numerous alternate e-mails can be used for groups. Several people can sign up this way under one e-mail account.

further). Each of these people has already taken part in this system.
When someone new comes along (such as yourself) he/she removes #1 off

address in the #6 position. This process is what develops the power

$1.00 payment to each of the 6 email addresses on the current list
from your PayPal account. To do this quickly and successfully, follow
these simple steps:
1. Login to PayPal and click on the “Send Money” tab near the top of
the screen

list of postings in a particular group, and post the article with the
NEW list of email addresses included. THAT’S IT!!! All you have to do
is jump to different newsgroups and post away. After you get the hang
of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup.
HOW THE MONEY WORKS:
When you post 200 messages in various forums, it is estimated that at
LEAST 15 people will respond and send you a $1.00 ($15.00). Those 15
will Post 200 Posts each and 225 people send you $1.00 ($225.00),
etc.
through 6 levels of email addresses. For comprehension purposes, here
is an easy viewing chart:

excite.com, etc., then search with the subject “millionaire message
board; or; money making message board; or; employment message board;
or making discussions; or ”money making forum; or; business message
board; etc.
You will find thousands & thousands of message boards.
Click on them one by one and you will find the option ‘post a new
message’. Then Post this article as a ‘new message’ by highlighting
the text of this letter and selecting copy then paste from the edit
menu. Fill in the Subject, this will be the header that everyone sees
as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group,
click the post message button. You’re done with your first one! It
only takes about 60 seconds to complete postings on message boards
