Issues sending messages to Y! Groups from Y! Mail Classic
We have received reports from some Groups users that their messages are being blocked because the group will only accept “plain text messages” and that “HTML or other formats are not allowed.”
We’ve found that users who had been able to send Rich Text messages (those are the ones that you can change the text color or font if you like) to these groups in the past are now having those same messages rejected. The Y! Mail team is looking into possible causes for this, but in the meantime I wanted to give you some options to get back to your groups messaging!
The easiest option is to click on the Plain Text link while you are composing your message. It is the link that is just above the right corner of the compose window.
If you would like to permanently change your settings to Plain Text you can do so in your Mail Options by following these steps:
- Click “Options”, select “Mail Options” in the drop down
- Select “General Preferences”
- Click on the radio button next to “Compose messages as plain text”
- Click “Save”
I’ll keep you posted on any updates I receive from the Y! Mail team.

There seems to be a problem with composed responses from at least one
group I am a moderator on. The replies are not everything I type. Incomplete responses. I’m feeling a little dorky posting half messages!!! In one instance the message I was replying to did not show in the composition window either.
Are the groups working on the rich text at group homepages also? This just started happening a few days ago??

I see this blog post is dated May 1 and it’s now May 7 and the problem still hasn’t been taken care of. And the fix mentioned in the blog posting doesn’t work either, because Yahoo changes your Preferences back to “Color and Graphics” willynilly and without any input from you.

I have been using this Yahoo Mail Classic, some times I found that even the message which are sent are received by the one whom we have sent it but yahoo mail domain gives that the mailer was unable to deliver this message as the email Id which we have written is not in use or not available.
Some times it also give the same message on the email Id’s which are existing and I have sent them mail from other email address like hotmail or rediffmail or indiatimes. Thus is problem was faced several times. Otherwise the rest is okay.

This is the 3rd time this month that my account is bouncing in Y! Groups. I don’t know what causing this. All possible reasons they mentioned is not right. I hope soon someone give light to this matter.

Does this by any chance have anything to do with the 350+ lines of HTML that started getting added to every message as of today?
Is there any way to turn off all the HTML bloat? It is unbelievably irritating to send out a 10-line message and find out that it’s come back as a 400-line message.

I’m only having trouble with one of the 14 groups I’m in, and that’s one that doesn’t allow attachments. Yahoo groups is reading HTML as an attachment and rejecting the messages. I’m using Yahoo Classic by preference, but can switch over to the new mail format temporarily when replying to that group.

I am having my messages rejected from numerous groups, some which allow attachments and some that don’t. When I post a message from a group site, I end up with a message in my mail box saying
“Remote host said: 553 sorry, that domain isn’t in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1) [RCPT_TO]“

My response posts to messages in my group are not posting to the group and I am now getting the “MAILER-DAEMON” failure email saying: Remote host said: 553 sorry, that domain isn’t in my list of allowed rcpthosts.
This just started today.

I’ve been experiencing this problem tonight as well - getting the mailer daemon message for about half of the messages i’ve sent (same message) to different groups - regardless of the type of group visavi attachments permitted -
also getting complaints from members experiencing the same failure notice to my main group which does allow attachments -
something is broken.

Somebody had better check to see why you cant add photos to your groups too. I have been trying for three days to add photos and all I get is this page cant be shown when i click the add photo button. It seems that yahoo groups is going to hell in a handbasket for the last two or three month. I might have to move my group elsewhere if it keeps up. Thom

can you tell me or give a list of reasons why a person or people get barred from the group, what kind of things are done or perhaps said to warrant such a drastic move? John

While we’re on the subject of mail issues, I’d like to point out that often messages from a Yahoo group are covered up by the “recent activity” graphic Yahoo insists on putting there. The information and ads contained in the graphic is not nearly as important to me as the message itself. If you’re going to have such a thing, at least make it something I can click and drag out of the way. As it stands, I have no option but to go to the group site to read message. You people need to get your act together.
