Yahoo! Groups Scheduled Site Maintenance
On April 2, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM PT, we will be conducting emergency planned maintenance on the Groups site. During this time, some groups will become unavailable for up to 30 minutes. Mail to some groups may also be delayed for up to 60 minutes.

Then why is it happening now? 830PM Eastern on April 1, messages seem lost in cyberspace.

How can something be “planned” and an “emergency” at the same time ??…..

Normally, we plan maintenance outages quite a bit ahead of time (for things like server upgrades). But in this case, we need to immediately replace some equipment. Hence the “emergency”. But still “planned” in the sense that we’re planning for a specific time today and giving advance notification.
The downtime that affected some groups yesterday, however, was completely unplanned. The downtime today will enable us to address the root cause of the issue from yesterday.

Hmmmmm, here’s a dilemma…..
If I repost your message to my group, am I breaching the Yahoo! groups T&Cs by not obtaining your permission first or are we granted permission to repost these status messages?
?

I think you need to amend the time — I can’t access my group as of 5:00 p.m. est…

I was unable to access most of my groups yesterday, Apr 1st for the better part of the day. No explanation so far! And here we are the next day, calling this outage “planned”. I hope this doesn’t get old fast while we wait for a real explanation.

4th attempt to post a comment. None of the others are getting through, just like trying to post on our message board.
The notice that says the issue has been resolved is bogus. Nothing has changed. It is taking 20 minutes for posts to appear on our message board. Maybe I shouldn’t complain. Yesterday it was taking 40-50 minutes for messages to appear, but many messages were disappearing before ever making it to the board.
It’s now 4:30 PST/5:30 PSDT

How disappointing.. this did NOTHING to fix the problems I’m having with uploading pics to my groups. Its been like this for days. How much longer are we going to have to wait?

some posters don’t seem to understand
broken means it can’t work [emails can't get through on a broken machine]
broken means the machine has to be taken off line to fix or replace the machine or the parts or the programs that run it.
repair takes time. YG TeAm has to shutdown and remove the bad part and replace it and reboot.
Whining will not make the process faster.
Real Life Computer stuff is not like on TV it doesn’t happen in a quarter hour. Get a grip grouches.

Really spotty access to pending msgs today again…please post a more thorough explanation, as the emergency maintenance msg hardly covered all of the hours that the group was down yesterday & again today. thanks!

Everything ‘yahoo’ seems to be in slow motion today for me -
non-yahoo sites do not seem to be having this slow down so
I assume Yahoo is still at work?

Is this supposed to be affecting the Files section…the day after? I’m having problems accessing the Files section of my group.
Can you guys try putting a banner at the top of Group home pages that say there are going to be outages instead of me having to come to the moderator page? I have too many things to worry about then coming to the moderator page every hour to make sure everything will be working alright.
Also, I’m having problems with the Yahoo Groups people brushing the problems I’m having with my group by telling me everything is fine, even though I and my members can’t access the group folders.
This is just bad work on the part of Yahoo.

Still not working. Taking extra time to load our home page and messages still not showing up when posted. Delays even when trying to load this blog page.
Any realistic idea when all these issues are going to be resolved or are you just going to keep us in the dark?

Hey Jami, thanks for posting here, at least we know that a real person is reading these comments.
Can you maybe find out why nobody has ever responded to the suggestion that Yahoo allows people to adopt orphan groups? It’s by far the most highly rated suggestion, and has been for a year, yet nobody from Yahoo has ever said a single word about it. If you don’t think it’s feasible, or just don’t want to let people adopt a group, then please just say so. If you’re working on something, please let us know that too. Just tell us something!
